As I have mentioned numerous times, I have a rather large garden this summer. Besides growing tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and basil, a quarter of my garden is being taken over by watermelon. A small part of the watermelon patch was planned, but the rest is all due to volunteerism.

Watermelon and summer just go together. Roadside stands are popping up all over with the beautiful fruit piled high. By making a watermelon granita, you can have a dessert that's elegant but still fun enough to serve up to hot kids who have been playing outside.
