A Kindle For Christmas

Metal Mouth

Elliott gets her braces today. I can’t tell if she is excited or scared. The appointment was made in May when I took her to the orthodontist to see if she needed braces. Colby and I knew she needed braces because she has a receding chin and a wicked overbite, but we needed to respect the experts.

As a parent, I have been judged so many times I have lost count. It starts in the grocery story line or in an airplane. As the kids kick the back of your seat or scream through the entire flight, your anger and frustration is not necessarily focused on the child, but at the parents.

Hell Hath No Birthday Quite Like This One

Today is my birthday. I have reached the ripe (but not spoiling) middle age of 47. I am proud to be 47 today. I am in a good place in my life. I have two wonderful, yet challenging children. I think the challenging aspects of parenthood keep me young. I have a husband that adores me, and the feeling is mutual. I have great friends and family…and I don’t look 47.
