Is Canberra the place for us?

I’ve said that I like Australia.

And I do.

I’ve said that I think I could happily live here.

And I think I could.

There’s just one tiny fear standing in the way.

First Impressions of Australia

I feel like I’ve come home.

I’m sitting on the couch watching a Home and Away rerun, which is bringing back so many happy childhood memories and a wonderfully wistful sense of nostalgia.

Off to the Land of Oz!

Today is the day we fly out to Australia.

It’s been one of the longest days ever. Up at the crack of dawn. Flying out at midnight tonight. And all the kids are brimming over with an excitable energy. The kind of nervous energy that can trigger off tears and squabbles and fits of throwing small plastic toys. And that’s just me I’m talking about.

I think I understand how the Emperor felt. You know, the one who was tricked into strutting around his kingdom in the nudie. Surely he must have been aware of the breeze blowing around, down there, where the sun never shines. Happy St Patrick, I mean, St David's Day

Only in North America would an Englishwoman spend a rainy afternoon with her half-English/half-Canadian kids decorating the house in honour of the patron saint of Ireland.

Only in North America would the house be ready to go, decoration-wise, by St David’s Day. Of course, my kids have no idea who St David is even though one of their aunties is Welsh. And they have no clue about St Andrew even though many of our closest friends are Scottish. And we certainly don’t do anything…
