Waiting and wondering and worrying

The last time I had a liver ultrasound, the radiologist took a peek at the scans while I was still there, and so I came out of the hospital knowing that I had a healthy liver.

Not this time.

This time I was told that my results would be made available within a week.

The five year anniversary

My life has been put on hold. Temporarily.

I didn’t mean this to happen.

I never mean this to happen.

But life has put a giant obstacle in my way, a humongous boulder right in the middle of the path I was traveling along, a seemingly impossible hurdle to conquer, one that has stopped me dead in my tracks.

Skulking and nit-picking

I love the word skulk.

It’s such a great word. One that is not used nearly enough for my liking. And it’s a word that I never thought I’d get to use in a blog about parenting. Let alone, in the title.

The ghosts of girlfriends past

What is it with our partner’s exes?

How come the thought of their imminent appearance can threaten our peace of mind?

Customer service to the max

About a year ago, I was in our local Safeway, pretty much minding my own business (which means stopping Lola from prodding every chocolate bar that was within her reach at the confectionary display by the till), while the cashier scanned my groceries.

He put through the onions, mushrooms, carrots and spuds, then picked up the minced meat.

One year on, and I'm still going strong!

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

I watched the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on telly this morning.

The one where my son is mistaken for a girl

“Excuse me, is that your daughter?”

It was a Wednesday morning. I was in the lobby of the local community centre with Lola and Lance waiting for playgroup to start.
