Tonight, my 3 1/2 month old daughter fell asleep in my arms. Something I absolutely love. While I was watching her sleep, she broke out into a beautiful, toothless smile. She looked so blissful and happy for just a moment before it faded and she resumed her peaceful state of being. Her gorgeous little smile blessed me fully. It reminded me of a passage in Proverbs where God says that if we follow His ways, we will be able to go to bed and have sweet dreams. We will not have to be afraid of…

I've been on this kick to make fall themed arts and crafts with the kids. I guess I'm trying to combine some of my favorite things: my kids, fall, crafts. We've been making tons of them and lately its, been a common topic for my blogs.

Life is pretty crazy most of the time. But every day lately has been making me feel like I'm running a circus, weird and comical, waiting for spectators to take their seats. In a conversation with my parents recently, it really hit me that I really do believe that I could compare my every day life to a circus act.
If my life were to be presented as a traveling act, this is what it'd look like.…

It is a little bit of an oximoron to cook vegtables in butter if you're trying to serve a healthy dish. However, this side dish was so amazing. My kids loved it, I loved it and I can't wait to cook it again.

This dish was crazy easy to make and my children LOVED it! They enjoyed it so much that I almost didn't get to eat my own fillet since they kept wanting more and more.

My neighbor inspired me to do more when she brought over a baby gift for my daughter that she made. I was so in love with it and impressed that I knew I needed to learn how and make some myself for my other kids.

I'm not good at baking. In fact, I'm terrible at it. Downright awful. I see all these other women who are able to bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes that are worthy of being served to the queen of England. I mean, wow! It used to make me jealous, even to the point that I broke down and cried about it one time, but I've come to terms with being domesticly challenged.
However, I…

I'm a little different from most moms. Sometimes, this hinders me from making friends with other mothers. I've become a bit of a social misfit but I'm doing my best not to let it affect my kids and their ability to make friends.
Today, I took my kids to the park and met a mom who didn't feel the need to try to become my new best friend but just wanted to have a little friendly conversation. It was nice.

School emphasizes the importance of subjects like math and English, saying that you must learn these things because you will be required to use them for the rest of your life. I agree but I also feel that encouraging creativity in a child is crucial as well. I have to use creativity skills more every single day than I do English or Math. I want my children to be able to creatively express themself and do it well.
I also feel that its incredibly important for us, as parents,…

My new motto when cooking meals for my family is "Waste Not, Want Not." In the past, we have tossed out criminal amounts of food because I made way more than we could eat or I'd buy something in bulk for just one recipe and not use it again before it went bad.
I've decided that I don't want to take things like groceries (or the money that pays for them) for granted any more.
With all this in mind,…

I adore fall. Its my favorite season. I am happier in the fall than any other time of the year. Today, the kids and I made some easy fall decorations.

I kept thinking that I needed more romance from my husband. I was wrong. I just needed to change what I understood about romance. I feel the need to pass this new understanding on to my children so that they don't have the wrong image of romance and spend their lives looking for all the wrong things in all the wrong places.
I think I still have a lot of learning to do but I can…

My poor, wonderful husband has to do some serious traveling for work. I am home alone with the kids for a very long time. I am terrified.

My son's birthday isn't for a few more weeks but we celebrated early since it was the only time we could guarentee that we'd all be together to do it. I hope he had fun.

I'm always trying to find new creative recipes for my family. I hate eating the same boring food every night and have been doing my best to pep things up. I have lately been doing a lot of meals with herbs from my new home grown window garden. Tonight I used cilantro and chives from my garden on some pork chops.

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on September 11, 2001. I remember it like it was yesterday.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones in the attacks as well as the men and women who served our country with their lives since then. You all are braver than I am.
My rememberance story is as follows...

Every mom has her kryptonite. Her weakness. The thing about parenting that turns her stomach, thats weird and thats hard for her to handle. Some can't handle cleaning up their kid's puke. Some can't handle cleaning up messes made by the dog. Some can't handle cleaning the bathrooms or putting ointment in strange places. I know a mom that just can NOT handle the smell of baby formula.
My weakness, my kryptonite is weird and gross.…

I'm a total meat and potatoes kinda gal. The meat part comes easier to me than the potatoe part sometimes though. With these "fries" though, I nail it every time. They're healthier than fried fries and many times much tastier. My kids love them, my husband loves them, I don't have a huge mess to clean up later and they go with just about anything else you're serving. Super easy to…

I've been trying to potty train my almost 2 year old son and I am at my wits end. I know he may not be ready yet but I'm so tired of trying to catch him to change his diaper before it leaks. I'm a little tired too of the silly advice I get sometimes. Anyway... Here's my battle tale to date.

I think its very important to spend time with your children, especially when they're practically begging for it. My 3 year old daughter is at the stage where she wants to help me with everything under the sun. Today, I decided that we'd bake cookies just so that she and I could spend some time together.
