The past week of my life has been a blur.
As my college courses have begun again, I'm adjusting to being back on a full course load (first time since the birth of my two year old) and being a SAHM to a two year old.. all the while being 33 weeks pregnant.
However, the past few days have been especially tiresome. Here's why:
1) My two year old, who recently changed over to a toddler bed (which presented its own set of issues) has also recently decided that he likes to wake up at 4:30 - 5:00 AM. EVERYDAY. This would not be a problem if 4:30 - 5:00 AM were our normal wake up time.. but seeing as he use to not wake up until 8:00 - 8:30 AM.. this is quite a change for us. He makes up for the annoyance of being up so early by politely coming to his bedroom door (which is child-proofed to where he cannot open it) and knocking on it, while say "Knock Knock! Hello Mommy!" It's a whole lot easier waking up before the sun does, when you are waking up to an adorable two year old.
2) I am really beginning to hit that horribly uncomfortable stage of my pregnancy. Still not swelling.. just UNCOMFORTABLE. Especially when I lay down at night. I am still trying to find a successful way of sleeping standing up. (Fill me in if you know of one!) The second I lay down, this sharp, excruciating pain stabs me in my lower right back and literally knocks the breath out of me. From that point on, there is no hope of finding comfort. My heating pad alleviates some of the pain but for the most post I just have to roll around and adjust pillows until I find a position where the sharp, stabbing pain isn't sucking every bit of oxygen out of my lungs.
3) Two words for you: CHARLIE HORSES. I swear to Sponge Bob, these little things are Satan himself playing tricks on us. Last night I had SIX... count them.. SIX charlie horses in my right calve muscle that abruptly awoke me from my precious, hard to obtain slumber. So, while trying to maneuver myself without screaming in pain from the horrible sharp stabbing pain in my lower back and effectively waking up the whole household, I hawk my right leg in the air (which is no small feat for a pregnant woman) and begin to flex my foot towards my head, trying to get the cramp to stop. I'm sure the whole sight was extremely comical.. but at the time.. in that moment.. if I could have managed to stand up.. I could have caused some serious bodily harm to someone due to my frustration.
After this extremely long night of lower back pain, charlie horses and a sleepless two year old.. my boy decided he wanted some chocolate milk when he woke up this morning.
Except for the fact that in my half asleep stupor, I grabbed the squeeze bottle of mayo out of our refrigerator, instead of the chocolate syrup. Luckily, I caught my mistake before my darling little boy was served a milk-o'-mayo surprise.
I find it is best to laugh about situations like these.. it makes moving on from them a lot easier.
Plus, I secretly giggle when I think about what my sons face would have looked like had I served him the milk-o'-mayo surprise!
What about you? What have been some of your comical experiences while pregnant or raising your little ones?
I'd love to hear about them!
I love to laugh. It makes getting through the day so much easier.
Stuffing my face with bananas while awaiting your hilarious stories.. (I hear bananas help stop the charlie horses, we shall see!)
