I gave up on making New Year's resolutions for a few years as I never seemed to keep them, but this year in the spirit of fresh starts I decided to give it another go.

You can read more about all my resolutions here http://bit.ly/Vwvkl2 but the one I hope will make most difference to my everyday life is my bid to do the simple things consistently and well.

I never seem to have enough time to get anything done and while at one point I would have sat and complained about there not being enough hours in the day, now I'm coming to realise that I am contributing to the problem and that I can do something about it.

One thing that happens when I feel I don't have enough time is that I begin to get overwhelmed and then have to do things in a rush. So, I've decided to try and do the simple things in the hope that this will stop everything getting on top of me.

They are simple things like unloading the dishwasher in the morning to make the job of loading it at night when I am tired easier. Things like wiping down the dinner table after every meal rather than leaving it to build up so much it needs a really good scrub which takes ages, and putting a bag in the recycling bin so the recycling goes straight in it rather than having to bag it all up on rubbish day.

I have some bigger resolutions too, and I'm still not sure if I'll manage to stick to them, but I'm hoping if nothing else I will be able to stick to these simple things and in a small way life might get a little easier.
