From Freshly Hatched, The Official Blog of HATCHEDit!

ARE YOU HOT ENOUGH?? Yowza. I know the middle of the country had this heat earlier this week, and thankfully its set to break here on the East Coast today – but that relief cannot come soon enough!! I sit here in my apartment with two little window A/C units – one in Sophie’s room, one in the living room and NONE in my room – which – needless to say – is pretty darned warm.
I’m looking forward to a weekend of hanging out at the community pool, teaching Sophie how to do a better flip turn before next week’s swim meets. HOWEVER, if I get a chance to sit around, relax, and shoot the breeze with some of the other ladies of Springfield – we’ll have lots to chit chat about…..
POLITICS
Is there anything more important to you than the economy?

This morning MSNBC had an article that asked if Candidate Romney was focused too entirely on the economy for his campaign.
Do you think there are issues that are being overlooked by both candidates thus far? Or is the economy the most important thing in your life, and once we right that everything else will “fall into place?”
I don’t know – personally I’m a bit torn. The economy is foremost in my mind, but I think that’s an easy thing to fall into and then to also forget how different the two parties can be on a lot of other issues…even though I secretly think that in their hearts – when it comes to many things Romney and Obama aren’t that far apart.
Privatization of Prisons?

I don’t know – I feel like every single Hollywood movie that ends with prisoners breaking free, or prisons being privatized ends in a big disaster. Now that is not saying that I also believe that if my daughter gets a spider bite she will magically gain superpowers (we wish)…BUT I do have a sense of foreboding about the privatization of certain aspects of life…and prisons is one of them.
Maybe this hits so close to home for me because I live in NJ and this is a state where the Governor (and to be fair – ALL of the NJ governors of the past 10-15 years) have privatized prisons and halfway homes. And there is a lot to be desired of the way some of these companies are handling things (and frankly putting the public at risk). SOURCE
Because- hear me out – the private corporations are in it to make money. The public cannot make money off prisons, but could potentially rehabilitate criminals who might eventually contribute to society. (You can read an interesting take on it here: SOURCE) There are so many conversations you could have about this – including whether or not you believe that people can be rehabilitated.
I guess my thought is – if you privatize prisons – at that point – the goal is no longer rehabilitating anyone – but just finding a place to put people forever. Which is where I think most of the Hollywood stories begin to have the characters fall down the rabbit hole into bad behavior and the annihilation of whole planets. Lol.
NEWS
There is Justice...is it too little too late? or too much too late?
If you didn’t hear, a grandmother who worked as a bus monitor for a middle school district is apparently cruelly taunted by the kids on her bus. SOURCE
The donations that have poured in for her by people who were upset by the way she was treated – so far top $200k.
Have you ever made a random donation (or wanted to) after hearing a particularly sad story?
Ann Curry Gets the Shaft
**Buh-Bye
Like her or not – I think everyone can agree that Ann Curry (co-anchor of the Today Show) is getting royally screwed by NBC.
Seemingly out of the blue (at least for people like myself who do not watch Today), Curry was SLAMMED in the New York Times over MULTIPLE articles that had the distinct whiff of being planted by NBC executives (or perhaps Natalie Morales’ people? Lol). SOURCE
Say WHAAA????
Yes. Apparently this was an actual shoe that Adidas was going to produce.
This was the caption that appeared with the picture on Adidas’ Facebook Page.
“Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? And we wonder why we have prisons that are so huge we are debating privatizing them? (see above story about prisons!)
We kinda love this
Okay – I just have to share this from The Daily Beast – because for anyone that remembers the whole Woody Allen/Mia Farrow/Soon Yi Previn thing – its interesting to see that though we don’t read about any of this – it is still an ongoing drama within that family.
“Woody Allen's estranged son, Ronan Farrow, reminded the world of his dad's ick factor on Sunday with a scintillating Twitter burn. "Happy father's day–or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law's day," the comedian’s estranged son tweeted, according to TMZ. The 24-year-old progeny of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow reportedly stopped speaking to his comedian father in 1992, when it was discovered that Allen was pursuing a romance with his then-stepdaughter, Soon-Yi Previn.
I love this the most:
Mother Mia Farrow retweeted the message, adding a resounding "BOOM.””
Discuss amongst yourselves.
