There is a tip that you can apply in a variety of situations.


Tip #1: Dance To A Positive Song

There is something about putting on some great music and dancing around the house, or even going out to dance, that will shoot your happy meter through the roof. Plus, it's great exercise and we all know that exercise reduces stress and acts like an antidepressants on the brain. The reason why it's important to dance to a positive song is because what you listen to impacts your thoughts and feelings. What goes in is going to come out.

Tip #2: Change Your Environment

Go outside, clean up, or redecorate. Changing your environment helps you get a fresh perspective. Try taking a walk to get some fresh air and sun. You could even go walk around your favorite store or any store, just so you can get a change of scenery.

Tip #3: Take A Shower or Bath

There is something about taking a hot shower or bath that leaves me refreshed. When I add a fresh shampoo and condition then I'm ready to take on the world again. Be careful not to make the water to hot, especially if your pregnant, since it can have negative effects.

Tip #4: Read A Book

Reading books not only help you take your mind off of whatever is bothering you, but it also helps your personal growth and development. The Geography of Bliss is a great book to check out.

Tip #5: Spend Time With Someone You Enjoy (And Someone Who Enjoys You)

There are certain people that I can talk to without getting tired. It's something about talking to these people that energizes me. Especially when I talk to someone I can laugh and be silly with. By the time I get off the phone I'm happy and ready to take on the next adventure. Sometimes just being around someone can change your mood. Even, people watching can lift your spirits.

Tip #6: Get Creative

Getting creative doesn't mean you have to be an artistic genius. We all can create. There is something about expressing yourself creatively and allowing your creative juices to flow that will energize you. You can draw, paint, color, take pictures, crochet, or write a book. Even going to a play or watching a performing arts group, like Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, can get your creative juices flowing. Remember you don't have to go out to enjoy performing arts, YouTube and other video sites have plenty of options to choose from. There is no limit to the ways that you can express yourself through positive creation.

Tip #7: Create An Action Plan or A Vision Board

Sometimes we can we can get that not so happy feeling because we feel stuck. Well, there is nothing that will help you get unstuck better than a well thought out plan. Even though life doesn't always go according to plan it helps to have a written or visual plan to keep you on track when you start to go in the opposite direction. Plus, creating a vision board or album will not only help you develop a plan but it will help you get your creative juices flowing.

Tip #8: Choose To Be Happy

That's right, just choose to be happy. Have you ever tried to cheer someone up and no matter what you said they had a negative comeback? The truth is sometimes people choose to be unhappy. So, if you want to be happy just choose to be. Recently I was watching an Anthony Robbins video. In the video Tony Robbins is speaking at one of his events and he is speaking to a young woman who is dealing with being unhappy. Well, Tony does what only Tony can do and by the end of their talk she is happy. Anthony Robbins visits the lady and her new husband a year or so later and her life has taken a 180˚. All of this happened just because she chose to be happy.

Hey Shari. Thanks for the comment. I completely understand ;-)

When it comes to your spouse, it helps to get to the point that regardless of what they do and if they never change, I choose to be happy. Since I made a commitment til death, then I'm either gonna go ahead and be happy or allow this other person to drown me. I choose to be happy.

We took a marriage class and the saying was "My spouse is not my problem." It doesn't always feel that way, but it's true.
