My 3 year old son is finally (almost) potty trained!
I know, not a big deal, right?
Wrong. This is a very big deal. It has been a journey getting to this point. A trying, stressful journey.

I knew my boy would potty train quickly once he was ready and able to grasp the concept. But this wasn't enough to satisfy Grandparents who felt I was neglecting my son's growth and "required" milestones. Their main argument was that he should be in preschool playing with other kids.

This caused me, a mom of 4, to neglect my maternal instincts and try to train my son from the age of 28 months. This caused stress on both of us for several weeks, so when our pediatrician told me it was okay for him to wear his diaper for a few more months, i held on to that and used it against anyone or any grandparent who tried to force their "recommendations" on me. Now my boy is 43 months old (3 & 1/2) and we're one week in and he's doing excellent. If I had just stuck to my instincts and ignored grandparents, my boy and i wouldn't have wasted so much playtime trying to do something he wasn't ready for. Now I'm looking at preschools. And it reminds me of when I was preparing my teens for Kindergarten.
