A Mom Blog Social Network
One of my very favorite bloggers has mentioned in a few of her posts that she loves listening to podcasts by Tara Brach. She has mentioned on more than one occasion how Tara's "steady, calming" voice help her to feel grounded, inspired and grateful, and because I think that we all are always searching for ways to bring a little more peace into our lives, I decided to take her advice and give Tara a listen.
It took listening to just one podcast for me to get hooked on Tara, and while I can't be certain, I'm pretty sure that she has somehow hypnotized me through the earbuds on my iPod Shuffle. Whenever I listen to her I feel like I just had the most delicious, fulfilling yoga session of my life. I feel relaxed, clear, and ready to be the very best version of me. Hell, I feel like the kind of gal who remembers to drink hot water with lemon first thing in the morning and sit up straight throughout the entire day. No slumping, ladies!
Yesterday afternoon I listened to this podcast while I was running around the partially frozen lake here in town. If you had ever told me that I would have been listening to podcasts instead of music while I ran I would have never believed you. Yet, there I was, jogging along and so absorbed in her wisdom that I barely noticed how cold it was outside. In fact, I might even say that it was one of my best runs ever.
If you have any extra time today, I encourage you to listen to it. You won't be sorry that you did. However, if you don't have time, here's a short summary:
In this particular podcast, Tara talks about how we are all so caught up in chasing the "dream" that we somehow lose sight of what things on our lives really have the ability to make us feel whole and content. We spend so much time searching for things to make us happy that we sometimes fail to let ourselves just be happy and count our abundant blessings.
Are you like that? I know I am.
I felt like she was speaking directly to me when she spoke about some people are constantly analyzing, judging and trying to repair everything in their lives. Basically, she tells us in a really sweet, loving, hypnotic way that we need to take a chill pill and just enjoy the ride.
So for today, try to do that, okay? Try not to worry about figuring it all out. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
