I would love to be a green mommy, I care about our environment and I do try to be aware of our planet, but it doesn’t always work. Being green isn’t all that simple,  it sounds like a great idea and it is, but implementation, not so much. I would like to say that we consider our planet in the choices we make but the truth is it’s usually an after thought falling someplace after convenience and want.

I am always a bit envious when I hear about breastfeeding, baby wearing crunchy mommies because I am not even on the spectrum. I didn’t breastfeed much, I can only wear a baby so much before I need some space and the only crunch here is at the gym about 5AM. I don’t ride my bike or own one even, I don’t make my soap or use cloth diapers (they terrify me). I don’t make creative milk jug art projects. I would love to be THAT mom but it’s just not meant to be.

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t purposefully trash our planet. We recycle, we donate, we drive a trendy hybrid (Escalade so its kind of a misnomer), we use energy conserving bulbs and our laundry service uses cold water to be more environmentally friendly. We eat a lot of organically and certainly prefer healthy toys for the kids but the crunchy green stuff…yeah I’m not so good at it.

I’m sure our world travel doesn’t help the air quality any either, nor does the zillions of pages we go through in scripts and samples. Even though we drive a hybrid and it could be worse I’m not going to say my Escalade is all that planet friendly. We use far too many products and throw away an insane amount. I wish I could do more, I would love to do more, but how do people do it?
