When I was a little girl, I thought it would be oh so fun to be able to wear glasses. Everyone who wore them seemed to have something special, that I wanted.
Recently, my daughter has also begun to feel this way. As I've browsed online for a new pair of frames or tried to have the pair I smashed repaired - she smiles and dreams of one day being able to wear them herself!
The other day, while waiting for my glasses to be fixed, she looked up at me and with a smile asked "Is it fun to wear glasses?". I remember thinking the same thing! I sort of chuckled and told her that I did not enjoy wearing them. I explained that I would in fact love it if I could have laser eye surgery
That scared her. The word 'laser'. So I then had to explain the surgery to her a little bit. I think she was still a little frightened.
"Well, I would just want to wear glasses if I were you." she mumbled as she turned to look at the assortment of frames hanging on the walls.
Unfortunately for her, she'll probably end up with glasses. I assume that since me and her daddy wear them. Oh but maybe one day I'll have the surgery that seems to terrify her - and then wearing sunglasses won't be such a hassle. I'm pretty sure I won't miss the contacts either.
We'll drop back in on this subject in a few years to see what her opinion is at that point!
