It’s been decided.
The Clays are finally going to take a stand.
The next time we go for a picnic on the beach there will be a banner above our designated spot. A banner that reads:
Just because we have four kids does not mean that we are interested in taking yours on board as well. We are not a daycare. Nor are we interested in starting one.
In other words, we are not interested in entertaining your children.
We are here at the beach on this bright sunny day to enjoy ourselves and spend time with our own children. Just as much as you are.
So please respect our privacy and space, just as we will respect yours, by refraining from the following activities:
1. Do not send your two year old over to play with ours. In case you haven’t noticed (which you probably haven’t since your own kids seem to be annoying every other family on the beach apart from their own), two year olds do not actually play together. They try and swipe toys out of each other hands. Without asking. It can get ugly.
Believe me, I do not want to make your darling little Amber cry by wrestling a plastic spade out of her grubby little mitts. The same plastic spade that she just yanked out of my darling daughter’s hand two minutes earlier, even though I repeatedly asked her not to. The same plastic spade that actually belongs to my precious two year old daughter. I don’t want to. But I will.
