I haven't had a "What We're Reading" post in a couple weeks. I'm going to back of on making this a weekly post, because I found while we might get through all the books, moving on to a new group each week meant the kids weren't getting to read over again the ones they loved. So we're slowing down on our lists we're working on and just taking time to enjoy the books on them more.

So here's reviews of some favorites (or not so favorite)!

My Books:

Raising Kids With Character That Lasts by John Yates and Susan Alexander Yates - I really tried to get into this book, but couldn't. I liked the idea, but there were very few practical tips. Also, it was a little too fundamental for me. When I hit some statements that sounded like the authors were encouraging people to only associate with others who were of the same faith, I had to call it quits on the book. While I want my kids to have strong morals and be people of good character, I also want them to be open and accepting of all people. Just the way I believe...

Roo and Monkey's books:

The Lion and The Mouse by Jerry Pinkney - the kids have been loving this book! The whole story is told in pictures, but that makes it fun and we find new things to think about and talk about almost every time we "read" it. They like it enough I may buy it when it is time to return this one to the library! :)

Smash! Crash! by John Scieska - we love any book by John Scieska, but this one Monkey especially likes being a lover of all things trucks and construction!

My Kindergarten by Rosemary Wells - I think this is just ok, but the kids seem to really like it. It is VERY long, so we have been reading it in sections.

Oh, The Places You'll Go by Dr. Suess - a favorite for all of us! :)
