I don’t know what’s harder to believe: the fact that this time last year the Canucks (Vancouver’s ice hockey team) were in the Stanley Cup finals or that this time last year I took the plunge and started a blog.
Funnily enough, my first post
, ever, featured the Canucks. Making it to the Stanley Cup finals is a big deal. It’s like your local football team (in my case Donny Rovers) making it to the FA cup.
And since we spent most of April, and May, and June of last year glued to the telly watching our team advance to the finals, the hockey playoffs had become a pretty big part of our lives.
We even bathed our newly born son (he was around 3 months old at the time) in front of the telly, so we didn’t miss the games. I actually have photographic evidence of the little man enjoying the game from the comfort of his bath tub.
Nothing calculated, you understand. Just on the off chance that one day in the distant future, our son will play for the Canucks and ESPN will want an interview with the parents, and I will just happen to have this old photo from way back when, which I can share with the whole world (well North America) with some cheesy comment, like:
He was always destined to be a Canuck. He was born the year the Canucks won the Stanley Cup. Look (digs in handbag for photo) he was an avid fan from the start.
