A Mom Blog Social Network
You know what makes me sad? Mean bloggers.
Over the last couple of days, I have read several very foul comments on a few of the blogs I frequent. I don't understand. We are all human, most of us are women, some of us are mothers, but not a single one of us is perfect.
Let me be brutally honest for a second. When I read a rude comment, I feel sad for the commenter. Being mean, especially on the internet, makes you look silly. It is very easy to be an anonymous bully. There is no glory in attacking someone while hiding behind your keyboard. Even if you are brave enough to post your name, you still don't look cute. I have had the pleasure of meeting several very popular bloggers in real life and as weird as this may sound, they have feelings too. Mean comments hurt. Think about how you would feel if someone left the same comment on your blog...
If you are guilty of being a "mean" blogger, don't worry, there is hope. Stop criticizing immediately and start encouraging. I don't agree with everything I read on my favorite blogs. If I come across something that offends me, I just keep my trap shut and move along. Sometimes, I will pick one thing out of the entry that I do like and keep my comment focused on that. Maybe they included a great picture or they used wonderful grammar. ANYTHING to keep the comment positive.
There are a lot of bad things in the real world, let us keep the blogging world a happy friendly place. In the end, we all just want to be loved and respected.
