I love the word skulk.
It’s such a great word. One that is not used nearly enough for my liking. And it’s a word that I never thought I’d get to use in a blog about parenting. Let alone, in the title.
But then a miracle happened.
My kids got nits.
And a blog post using the word ‘skulk’ was born.
Because, ladies and gentleman, that is precisely what I did today: I skulked around the school yard. I picked my kids up from school and skulked around the outskirts of the playground, alone, while my kids went off to play.
I am not normally a skulker. Some days the only adult interaction I have is the fifteen minutes in the school playground at pick up time. So I tend to utilize that time efficiently, to pack as much conversation as possible into those fifteen minutes.
Not today however.
Today, I noticed an abundance of parents fixated on a notice that their kids handed to them as they came out of their classroom.
