If you have watched any kind of nature channel you know that when there are baby bear cubs around to stay clear because mama bear is not far away and she will be none to happy if you mess with her babies!

I have come to discover that i am one major mama bear! I have always been a bit feisty don't get me wrong...but when it comes to my kiddos you better watch out!

Case and point...we moved out of a very bad apartment in April into a single family house (my first ever!) While in the apartment we lived above the land lords. There were a lot of them. It was a mother and father, their grown son and his son who is only 2 years older than my oldest. Then in an illegal attic apartment above ours their daughter and her husband resided. They were the very definition of slum lords. I'm talking no heat in the winter, stealing our electric...the works.

The thing that really got me angry however was the fact that my kids were not allowed to play in the back yard and when they played in the front we were always getting yelled at. On top of that they were always messing with my stroller...so before we left the mama bear in me started to stir and I reported them to the town just before moving out.

Well just the other day the attic dweller and her husband saw me driving and followed me home where they jumped out of their car and started screaming at me! Normally I would have gone into my house shut the door and ignored them but my kids were there and they were scared! The next thing I know I am shaking like crazy the amount of adrenalin that was surging through my veins was crazy! I phoned the police and they sent an officer to take care of the situation and its a good thing they did because all I wanted to do was charge her!

I have a quick mouth and am...for lack of a better term...fresh. However I am not normally a violent person. As I sat and calmed down it hit me, if it would have been just her and I it would have been a different story. I would have made a few not so nice comments about her disrupting my other wise quiet neighborhood and called it a day but because my children were there and being effected by it, it was an entirely different ball game.

I think that all women have an animal instinct when it comes to protecting children and I feel that all women have a right to those feelings and instincts so don't be afraid to let them out ladies! If we don't protect our cubs no one else will!
