I need the stress relief. Pure and simple. I love my Chalean Extreme because I like to lift weights. It makes me feel powerful. I love my muscles, and how clean sweating makes my body feel. Releasing toxins makes all the difference in my world.
Because I'm a homeschooler, military wife, have 3 girls (1 teen, a preteen, and a little one ), swim team practices, friends, a business to run, and I'm over 40 ( 42 to be exact ), I don't always know which way is up. So, I work out. This is my moving meditation, and my sanity saver.
It also helps my marriage. Without working out, I'd probably not have enough patience to deal with my husband. Communication breaks down during high stress times. This is crucial because he has to deal with stress too. How many marriages could be saved just by releasing stress working out in front of the tv or at the gym instead of on each other? I wonder.
My kids benefit too. Why? Mom has more patience and energy, something that tends to get in short supply. I feel calmer, and I can relate better to their needs. Kids can drive you crazy, but a good workout can get you out of your daily straight jacket.
I also have a dog. A very, hyper, friendly, and excited Viszla. He's great, but he is the child that will never grow up. He has boundless energy, and can pull it out from anywhere, anytime. This is great, until you have to walk him. Actually, I don't walk him, he walks me. More like runs me, but you get the picture.
My day starts at 7am with a workout. I get my girls up, shower, and help them start their day. We're still homeschooling in the summer time. It's our schedule, and yes we are a little behind, but not by much. Most homeschoolers school in the summer, so technically we're not behind. It helps to keep them busy.
I wear a lot of hats, and people depend on me. But, I'm stingy with my workout time. In other words, not working out is a deal breaker for me. I need it, and protect that time like it's one of my kids. Is it worth it? Yes. I think clearly, make better decisions, and get plenty of sleep at night. That's the best perk of all. While my other friends talk about sleepless nights, I sleep like a baby.
Will I always workout? Yes, I've lost 33lbs so far, and have only 24 more to go. I'll make my goal. I'm focused and centered. By the end of the summer the rest of the pounds will be history.
So today, do yourself a favor, find a workout that works for you. Walk, run, bike, swim, or seduce your husband. Whatever works. Lift weights or your kids, just do something. Your body will thank you for it today.
