Are glutathione benefits real or is it a scam?

Glutathione is an antioxidant produced endogenously by the human body. Extensive research has recently revealed that this antioxidant could have crucial health benefits which cannot be ignored.

Although we are saying that the human body is capable of synthesizing its own glutathione, some rare elements found in plants can be introduced in the body to trigger its production.  Companies capable of “mining” such elements are building a business around the whole ideology as a result. Is the whole idea just another short-lived fad that doesn’t deserve all the attention? Let’s find out!

Glutathione does exist

Numerous blood and tissue tests have continued to confirm the existence of glutathione in the human body. So, as a scientific fact, glutathione does exist.

To test whether it had any influence on the human body, the extracted glutathione was tested on the human’s skin under the microscope. As a result of a deactivating reaction with the enzyme tyrosinase (found on the melanin pigment), it was discovered that glutathione made skin lighter on direct contact. This discovery gave rise to the popular intravenous glutathione treatments. These treatments are currently being used to permanently and naturally diminish facial scars and blotches.

How exactly does glutathione work?

Oxygen is one of the components of the human blood. Often, the oxygen forms lobes (oxidants) which have the potential to cause inflammation in body cells. Besides this naturally occurring process, oxidants can also form as a result of stress, illness, and poor dieting.  As an antioxidant, glutathione acts as a self-cleaning agent that eliminates oxidants out of your body. After the oxidants are gotten rid of, the inflammation on the damaged cells is allowed time to heal.

The concentration of glutathione, as well as the intensity of production, is not common in all people, of course. One thing’s for sure though; glutathione production will diminish continuously as you age. This means that at some point in your life, you might want to boost the production of glutathione in your body through other sources.

Are there any side effects

We have seen negative and serious side effects transform even the most legit health solutions turn into scams overnight. Well, with glutathione this cannot be expected any time soon. Why?

As we said earlier, glutathione is a naturally occurring element produced by the human body itself. Although it is a natural chemical compound, its strength in reactions might still scare off some people. This should not be the case, though. The side effects of glutathione production boosting supplements are not exactly severe when compared to the many best types of glutathione benefits. It cannot be compared to the other reactions of pharmaceutical drug alternatives.

A disclaimer

Anything taken in excess could be harmful to your body. As much as we are saying that glutathione is not new to your body, triggering its synthesis excessively could be harmful. Is there any chance for allergies and diseases? Yes, although not serious, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, and other unpleasant reactions could be imminent. Important to note, however, these effects are only caused by orally taken stimulants like tablets and capsules.
