Easter is already upon us! I wanted to share six Easter entertaining tips to help keep your entertaining easy, festive and fun.

With Easter on a Sunday, many people attend church, it is a fun-filled day but busier for most. One thing we have done for many years, is we give our children their Easter baskets on Saturday the day before church, then we don’t feel rushed, they get to go through their treats and play with their new toys and I am not trying to take pictures and hand out baskets before we head out the door to church. My kids also receive Easter candy at church so they do not need my basket full of candy and their church basket full of candy immediately after church.

If you are entertaining or simply feeding your family I hope these six tips below will help save you some sanity so you too can enjoy the holiday.

Keep your menu simple. I try to have a salad, meat, vegetable, and a side dish. My favorite side dish right now is creamed spinach, I have been making it at least once a week. We have also many times had potato salad, you can make ahead, chips and something on the grill.

Serve family style or DIY buffet bar style. This makes it easy for you to sit enjoy your company and enjoy your meal too and not be stuck in the kitchen.

Use disposable plates and utensils. Especially nowadays, you can find cute and festive disposable plates, cups and utensils. This makes clean-up easy.

Make desserts, dips, and appetizers that you can ahead of time. Last year I made this yummy carrot shaped cream cheese dip. The link to the recipe is this blog post.

I changed it a little by using green onion for the carrot topper instead of parsley.

Keep desserts simple. We have had Peep S’mores, Peep Pudding cups, and topped store-bought cupcakes with Peeps. Having fresh fruit is a great way to keep it simple and balance out all the treats.

Use what you have. Save money and stick to your budget by reusing and repurposing what you already have. The great thing about Easter is it is during Spring. Spring is all about flowers, and bright colors. You can easily decorate with fresh flowers from your yard. You can mix and match dishes or pull other decor items that are bright in color to add a spring touch to your table. You can use your decorated hard-boiled eggs as the centerpiece and a side dish. Place them in a nice clear bowl or vase and it’s dual purpose. Find what neutral serving platters you already have or cake stands and use them to add dimension to your table.
